WWE open, video showing highlights of past ECW moments (original and WWECW), ECW open, pyro and ballyhoo.  Josh Matthews and Byron Saxton are our hosts for the final episode of ECW.  Tonight, they’ll reveal the cast of NXT.

Savannah is our ring announcer.

Unified WWE Tag Team Championship Match: The Big Show & WWE United States Champion The Miz (c) vs. Goldust & Yoshi Tatsu.  Show Miz’s mixed theme is awful.  Goldust and Miz go at it to start.  Tag to Yoshi.  Nice double teaming from YoshiDust gets a 2 count.  Yoshi is wearing awesome tights tonight that put me in mind of Jake Roberts.  Goldust tags in and hits the butt butt on Miz for 2.  Show tags in, but Goldust didn’t see it and gets the back of head smashed in by a headbutt.  Commercials!  Miz has Goldust in a rest hold.  Yoshi and Show tag in.  Yoshi throws some kicks, then gets mauled by Big Show.  Byron Saxton says “Size doesn’t do the Big Show’s size justice.”  Yeah, he said that.  Bad guys get heat on Yoshi.  Yoshi makes a small comeback on Miz.  Hot tag to Goldust.  He runs wild on Miz.  Snap powerslam gets 1 as Show distracts.  Yoshi tries to cut him off, but gets tossed out of the ring.  Show punches Goldust on the ribs and Miz hits the Skull Crushing Finale for the pin in 9:35.  Fine little match.  Miz is carrying a lot of hardware these days.

First NXT cast members: Chris Jericho mentors Wade Barrett and Matt Hardy mentoring Justin Gabriel (FCW’s Justin Angel).

ECW GM Tiffany starts to talk, but Zack Ryder and Rosa Mendez interrupt.  Ryder is mad that he’s not the main event.  Rosa yells at her in Mexican (I jest, I jest).  Ryder says it’s Extreme Rules, so he can interfere if he wants to.  Commercials!

NXT commercial.

NXT cast: MVP mentors Skip Sheffield.

Tony Atlas introduces Abraham Washington.  The Abraham Washington Show is in the ring tonight instead of on the stage.  He talks about how he’s about to be a free agent.  He pimps NXT, then introduces  his guest… himself.  Shelton Benjamin comes out.  He talks for a minute.  Vane Archer comes out and tells Shelton that he better hope they don’t end up on the same show.  Trent Barreta and Caylen Croft come out, then Vladimir Kozlov.  I don’t even know what the fuck he said.  Kozlov beats up Archer, Croft, and Barreta.  Kozlov and Benjamin shake hands and hug.  Odd segment.

NXT cast: Carlito mentoring Michael Tarver.

The main event is NEXT!  Not to be confused with NXT.

NXT cast: The Miz mentors Daniel Bryan (Bryan Danielson w/ new awful WWE name).

Elimination Chamber hype video.

NXT cast: Christian mentoring Heath Slater.

Christian comes out for the main event.  He cuts a promo about how he returned to ECW last year and it became home to him.  He puts over the guys he’s worked with and mentored, and says tonight he’s fighting for the ECW Originals.  He says he’ll always be proud of being the last ECW Champion.  The main event is NEXT!  For real this time!

NXT debuts next Tuesday!

NXT cast: CM Punk mentors Darren Young.

Extreme Rules Match for the ECW Championship: Christian (c) vs. Ezekiel Jackson (w/ William Regal).  Zeke shoves Christian across the ring to start.  Christian ducks some blows, slaps Zeke, then sends him out of the ring.  Zeke pulls Christian out of the ring, clobbers him, throws him in the ring, and throws in some plunder.  Christian hits Zeke (on the apron) with a Singapore cane to knock him off.  Zack Ryder (w/ Rosa Mendez) runs in and attacks Christian.  Christian kicks his ass, flapjacks him onto a trash can, and throws him out of the ring.  Rosa slaps Christian.  Tiffany runs in and kicks Rosa’s ass and yells at Rosa and Ryder to leave.  Commercials.  Zeke beats up Christian.  Christian takes a bump off the top rope and into the guardrail.  Christian avoids a trash can blow and hits a missile dropkick off the steps to kick the trash can into Zeke’s face.  Zeke sends Christian into the steps.  Zeke tries to ram a shopping cart into Christian, but Christian avoids it.  Zeke sends Christian into the shopping cart.  Literally.  Back into the ring, Zeke covers for 2.  Christian avoids a charging trash can lid in the corner, hits his kick, and follows with a diving cross body for 2.  Zeke crashes a trash can into Christian for 2.  Zeke and Regal get a table and hold it up so Christian can baseball slide dropkick it into their faces.  They fight over the table back inside.  Zeke puts Christian on the top rope and sets up the table.  He goes for a superplex, but Christian fights him off and goes for the tornado DDT.  Zeke avoids it.  Christian hits Zeke with a Singapore cane, then chases Regal away with the can.  Christian wails on Zeke with the cane, hits the diving European uppercut, and sets up the Killswitch.  Regal attacks Christian.  Christian avoids the knee trembler and hits the Killswitch on Regal.  Zeke hits the uranage (which Saxton calls the Book of Ezekiel, as I suggested last week) through the table for the pin in 11:25.  That belt actually looks good on Zeke.  Fun match, with as close to an ECW feel as you’re going to get in the homogenized land of WWE.

NXT cast: R-Truth mentors David Otunga.

NXT plug.

I’m going to miss WWEECW.  It’s been a pretty consistently good show for a long time.

Florida Championship Wrestling 2/7/10

Posted in FCW with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on February 16, 2010 by Grappleholic

My first time watching FCW.  I just had to check out this show.

Steve Keirn opens the show to talk about the passing of Jack Brisco.  They do a 10 bell salute.  Brisco tribute video from Raw.

FCW open, ballyhoo sans pyro.

Some chick interviews Heath Slater, who will be the guest referee in tonight’s main event.

Wade Barrett and Byron Saxton are our hosts.

Savannah is the ring announcer!  This place is a lot like ECW.

Handicap Match for FCW Florida Tag Team Championship: The Fortunate Sons (Joe Hennig & Brett Dibiase) (c) vs. The Dudebusters (Curt Hawkins, Trent Barreta, & Caylen Croft).  Barreta jumps Dibiase to start.  Dibiase drops him, then tags in Hennig.  Hawkins tags in.  Hennig drops him with a dropkick, then hits a gutwrench suplex for 2.  Dibiase back in, hits a springboard cross body on Hawkins for 2.  Hawkins rolls to the apron and tries to ram Dibiase’s head into the turnbuckle, but fails.  Dibiase gets pulled outside and beaten up.  Croft tags in and beats up Dibiase.  Insta-commercials.  Dibiase plays face in peril.  I love the heel British announcer, Barrett.  Hot tag to Hennig, who runs wild on Croft.  Hennig goes for the Perfect Plex, fails, hits a Northern Lights suplex, Barreta saves.  Dibiase comes in.  Hawkins hits an Alley Oop on him.  Hennig drops Hawkins.  Croft attacks Hennig from behind.  Hennig counters a double team and hits the Perfect Plex on Croft for the pin (about 6 minutes shown).  Fine little match.

Divas tag team action is next!

Michael Tarver cuts a promo.

Edge is coming to FCW on February 12!

Liviana & Naomi Knight vs. Eve Torres & AJ Lee.  Eve is Lee’s mystery partner.  Eve starts, but Knight wants Lee.  Lee tags in and they go at it.  It’s not good.  Liviana tags in and schoolgirls Lee for 2.  Lee tries to make the tag, but fails.  Liviana applies a camel clutch.  Knight tags in.  Lee continues to play face in peril.  Hot tag to Eve, who runs wild.  Senton on Knight gets 2.  Liviana runs in.  Lee goes after her, but gets thrown out of the ring.  Eve takes out Liviana, then hits a moonsault press on Knight for the pin in 3:55.  When Eve is the best worker in the match, something is very wrong.

The match that is the reason I’m watching this show is NEXT!

Edge comes to FCW on February 12!  BE THERE!

Bryan Danielson vs. Kaval.  They shake hands.  Glad to see they’re still observing the Code of Honor.  They lock up.  Kaval backs Danielson into the ropes.  Clean break.  They do a weird bridge spot.  Kaval knees Danielson in the gut for a 2 count.  Twice.  Awesome chain wrestling.  Kaval dropkicks Danielson in the face a couple of times, then kicks him again for 2.  Awesome stuff.  Glad to see Kaval still kicks the fuck out of the people.  He proceeds to kick the fuck out of Danielson.  Danielson throws some kicks of his own.  Danielson works on Kaval’s elbow.  Danielson gets a couple of 2 counts from different pinning predicaments.  Kaval throws some more vicious kicks at Danielson, with a couple of elbow smashes thrown in.  Danielson attacks the elbow again.  Kaval hits a sunset flip into a double stomp for 2.  Danielson with an awesome butterfly suplex into a cross armbreaker.  Kaval gets a rope break.  Danielson slams Kaval, then comes off the top with a diving headbutt, but Kaval gets his feet up to counter out.  Kaval with a screaming dropkick for 2.  Danielson goes for a butterfly superplex.  Kaval fights him off, headbutts him down, and hits the Warrior’s Way for the pin in 8:42.  Awesome match.

Justin Angel cuts a promo.

Edge!  Edge!  EDGE!

Savannah introduces the main event!

FCW Florida Heavyweight Championship Match: Justin Angel (c) vs. Michael Tarver.  Heath Slater is the Special Guest Referee.  Angel uses Candice Michelle’s old music.  That’s funny and sad.  They trade holds.  Angel gets a la magistral for 2.  They fight outside.  Angel hits a leg lariat off of the steps.  Insta-commercials.  Edge!  Angel works Tarver’s arm.  Tarver tries to fight out of the hold, but Angel keeps it clamped on.  Tarver finally fights out and slams Angel into the post.  Cover gets 2.  Tarver keeps the heat up.  BIG back body drop gets 2.  Back outside.  Angel back body drops Tarver across the steps.  Ouch.  Back inside.  Angel goes up top.  Tarver rolls away.  Angel drops down.  Tarver hits a powerslam.  Slater makes a very quick 2 count.  Angel avoids a punch and hits an STO.  He goes for a springboard moonsault.  Tarver avoids it and gets a fast 2.  A confused Tarver KO punches Slater.  They drag Slater out and another referee comes in.  Angel hits a 450 splash for the pin (about 8 minutes shown).  Match was fine.  Angel celebrates.

The show ends with an old clip of Gordon Solie closing out the old Championship Wrestling from Florida program.  “Goodbye from the sunshine state.”  Neat!

Interesting show.  Everything was fine but the awful divas match.  Danielson vs. Kaval was awesome.

WWE open, ECW open.  Josh Matthews and Byron Saxton are our hosts, from Memphis, Tennessee!  Tonight, Mr. McMahon will be in the house!

Savannah introduces Tony Atlas, who introduces Abraham Washington.  Washington babbles for a while, then introduces his guest: the ECW Champion, Christian!  Christian is the longest reigning current champion in WWE.  Zack Ryder and Rosa Mendez interrupt.  Ryder says the real news this week is The Hurricane’s recent arrest.  Ryder says this proves he’s the heart and soul superhero of ECW.  Christian says Ryder is jealous of Hurricane.  They banter back and forth.  Abraham ends the show before they can fight.

Matthews and Saxton talk.  Tonight, Mr. McMahon addresses the future of ECW!  Commercials!

WWE.com plug.

Shot of the FedExForum.

Shelton Benjamin vs. Vance Archer.  They show Archer attacking Benjamin from behind last week.  Shelton kicks Archer’s ass, because he’s pissed.  Archer bails.  Benjamin takes him out with a dive.  Back inside, Archer takes control briefly until Shelton hits a move, then sends him out of the ring.  Benjamin goes for another dive, but Archer moves and sends him into the barricade.  Commercials.  Archer has Benjamin in an arm hold, having taken over during the break.  Archer keeps the pressure on.  Shelton avoids Archer in the corner and chop blocks his leg.  Shelton Stinger Splashes into Archer’s elbow.  Archer goes for a suplex or something, but Shelton counters it into a neckbreaker for 2.  Archer tries to pin Shelton by holding the ropes, but gets caught, then seconds later, gets the pin with his feet on the ropes in 9:45.

Raw Rebound.  This Friday on Smackdown, exclusive footage of what happened after Raw went off the air!

Tonight, Christian takes on Zack Ryder!

Yoshi Tatsu (w/ Goldust) vs. Trent Barreta (w/ Caylen Croft).  They lock up, then have an awesome fast paced exchange.  Yoshi works a hammerlock.  Barreta sends Yoshi out of the ring.  Yoshi comes back and throws a big kick that Barreta ducks.  Barreta takes over.  Tatsu hits a big back body drop and throws some kicks.  Double knees in the corner, then a snapmare and a kick to the middle for 2.  Yoshi goes up top, but Barreta meets him and goes for a superplex.  Yoshi fights him off, but Barreta springs back up and hits a Frankensteiner for 2.  Barreta argues with the referee, then Yoshi kicks him in the head for the pin in 3:58.  Yoshi and Goldust celebrate.

Mr. McMahon’s announcement is NEXT!

Royal Rumble highlights.

Savannah introduces Mr. McMahon.  Vince announces that ECW will be going off the air in 3 weeks, to be replaced by “the next evolution of WWE… [and] television history.”

Gregory Helms is in the ring.  He introduces Ezekiel Jackson (w/ William Regal).  He tries to interview Zeke, but they kick his ass instead.  Christian makes the save with a Singapore cane.  Commercials.

Non-Title: ECW Champion Christian vs. Zack Ryder (w/ Rosa Mendez).  They wrestle.  Christian hits a baseball slide dropkick to the outside on Ryder.  Back inside, Christian goes to the middle rope.  Rosa distracts him, allowing Ryder to grab his legs and do the old bottom rope decapitator spot.  Ryder hits the Rough Ryder for 2.  Christian goes up top again.  Ryder tries a superplex, but Christian pushes him away and hits a cross body for 2.  Christian hits a flapjack and his standing on the guy on the bottom rope bit.  Slide out of the ring, palm strike, missile dropkick gets 2 for Christian.  Christian goes for the springboard sunset flip, but Ryder sits on it for 2.  Christian hits his kick through the ropes and a diving elbow smash, then hits the Killswitch.  Ezekiel Jackson attacks Christian to cause the DQ in 5:25.  Zeke and Regal beat down Christian.  Zeke stands over a fallen Christian to close the show.

WWE open, hype for the main event (Christian & Kane vs. Regal & Zeke), ECW open, pyro and ballyhoo.  Josh Matthews and Byron Saxton are our hosts.

William Regal is already in the ring.  He introduces “the next ECW Champion,” Ezekiel Jackson.  Zeke cuts a promo on Christian.  Christian comes out to retort and makes a Pulp Fiction reference, which makes me happy.  They go back and forth, eventually leading to…

ECW Champion Christian & Kane vs. William Regal & Ezekiel Jackson.  JIP.  Christian and Regal go at it, which is always good times.  The big guys tag in and have their big guy fight.  Christian tags in and tries to out-quick Zeke, but eventually gets caught and powerslammed.  Kane tags in and the bad guys start getting heat on him.  Christian comes in and tries to chop down big Zeke.  Christian hits a missile dropkick for 2, then goes for the Killswitch but fails.  Christian hits his reverse DDT, knocks Regal to the floor, throws Zeke out, and hits a dive out onto them.  Commercial.  Kane tags Christian back in and Zeke throws Christian out of the ring.  Christian brawls with Regal, then gets dropped by Zeke.  The bad guys get heat on Christian.  Kane gets the hot tag and runs wild on Regal.  Kane hits the diving clothesline and goes for the chokeslam, but Zeke interrupts.  Christian tags in and Kane throws him onto Zeke.  Kane and Zeke brawl outside.  Regal counters Christian’s Killswitch and hits an Exploder.  Zeke sends Kane into the steps.  Christian avoids the knee trembler and goes for the Killswitch, but Zeke tags in mid-move and hits his uranage on Christian for the pin in about 18 minutes.  Okay match.

Tonight, The Hurricane, Goldust, and Yoshi Tatsu take on Zack Ryder, Trent Barreta, and Caylen Croft!

Matthews and Saxton hype the Royal Rumble card, followed by the great Rumble “By the numbers” video.

Shelton Benjamin cuts a promo about the Rumble match, but gets jumped midway through by Vance Archer.

Zack Ryder comes out with Rosa Mendez for his match.  They show last week’s incident where Rosa berated Savannah, who was saved by The Hurricane.

Zack Ryder (w/ Rosa Mendez), Trent Barreta, & Caylen Croft vs. The Hurricane, Goldust, & Yoshi Tatsu.  Goldust and Croft start.  Hurricane tags in and gets a near fall on Croft.  Ryder tags in and goes at it with his rival, Hurricane.  Hurricane low bridges Ryder out of the ring.  Ryder and Croft jump in, but get run out by the other faces.  Commercials.  Man, what a long commercial break.  Finally back to action, with Yoshi and Croft having a fine exchange.  Goldust tags in and hammers Croft.  Barreta and Hurricane tag in and go at it.  Hurricane hits a nice hurricanrana (a term I never use, but it fits here).  Barreta bails to avoid the Shining Black, then Hurricane dives on him.  Ryder distracts Hurricane to let the heels get the advantage, then tags in to administer some punishment.  Ryder hits the Rough Ryder, hammer Hurricane some more, and tags in Croft.  Hurricane plays face in peril for a while until he manages to drop Croft with the Shining Black and make the hot tag to Yoshi, who runs wild on Barreta.  Yoshi hits a spinning kick off the top on Barreta, but Ryder saves.  Brief clusterfuck ensues, then Yoshi drops Barreta with another kick for the pin in 14:54.  Good little match to cap off a fun show.

WWE open, Superstars open, pyro and ballyhoo.  Michael Cole and Jerry Lawler are our opening hosts.

Jillian Hall comes out and rapes our ears with a horrible rendition of a horrible song by a horrible singer.

Jillian Hall vs. Kelly Kelly.  Kelly does her flippy stuff, then Jillian stretches her and beats her up.  Kelly makes her comeback.  Jillian squashes a victory roll attempt for 2.  Jillian goes for a handspring elbow to the corner, but Kelly dropkicks her then hits her half asses Fameasser for the pin in 3:45.  A not very good, but very forgettable match.

In tonight’s main event, Chris Jericho takes on Kane!

Josh Matthews and Byron Saxton take over commentary for the next match.

Shelton Benjamin vs. Vance Archer.  They lock up, then brawl.  Shelton counters the British Fall into an inside cradle for 2.  Benjamin takes Archer out of the ring with a headscissors.  Commercials.  Archer has a rear chin lock.  Shelton escapes and eats Archer’s boot.  Archer uses another rest hold.  Shelton escapes again.  Archer boots him again and hits some mounted punches, then covers for 2.  Archer cranks on Benjamin’s neck.  Shelton escapes the hold again and makes his comeback.  Shelton hits the Dragon Whip for 2.  Shelton hits a German suplex hold for 2.  Archer avoids a dropkick and whips Benjamin into the corner.  Benjamin hits a dropkick, then catches Archer with an Oklahoma roll for the pin in 11:22.  Slow and uninspiring.

Ask The Divas.

The main event is still to come!

Video package on The Miz, for some reason.

Todd Grisham and Matt Striker have taken over announcing.  They hype the Royal Rumble.

Chris Jericho heads out for his match, which is NEXT!

Chris Jericho vs. Kane.  They stall a lot to start.  Jericho slaps Kane, and Kane responds by kicking his ass.  Kane works a hammerlock.  Jericho low bridges Kane out of the ring, then does the springboard dropkick to the apron to knock Kane to the floor again.  Commercials.  Naturally, Jericho has the advantage.  Jericho rocks Kane with an enzuigiri for 2.  Jericho, who’s been watching Kane’s recent matches with Dolph Ziggler on Smackdown, clamps on a sleeper hold.  Kane rams him against the turnbuckle to escape it.  Jericho hits a dropkick for 2.  Jericho hits the bulldog.  Kane avoids the Lionsault and hits the big boot for 2.  Jericho goes for the Walls of Jericho, but fails.  Kane counters the Codebreaker as well.  Jericho counters a chokeslam attempt and bails.  Kane wins by count-out in 16:16.  Match was ok.

WWE open, ECW Homecoming highlights, ECW open.  Tonight, Christian takes on William Regal!  YES!

Savannah introduces Tony Atlas, who introduces Santino Marella, guest host of tonight’s Abraham Washington Show.  Santino and Atlas banter.  Santino introduces his guest, babyface Vladimir Kozlov.  I hope Kozlov throws out an “I LOVE DOUBLE DOUBLE E” for old time’s sake.  Kozlov said he was  in a Ukrainian biker gang until someone ran over his face.   They go in in their hard to understand accents.  Comedy gold here.  Santino suggests that they become a tag team.  Kozlov says no.  He asks the crowd.  Crowd also says no.  Santino ends the show early.

Goldust and Yoshi Tatsu are headed our way!

Goldust & Yoshi Tatsu vs. Trent Barreta & Caylen Croft.  Goldust goes with both.  Tatsu tags in and Croft and Barreta manage to get the advantage on him and work him over.  Yoshi plays face in peril and finally makes the hot tag to Goldust.  Goldust hits the snap powerslam on Croft.  Barreta saves.  Goldust cradles Croft.  Barreta nails him while the ref’s back is turned, allowing Croft to get the pin in 6:13.  Good little tag match.  Apologies for skimping so much on the match details.

Zack Ryder and Rosa Mendez are headed our way!

Zack Ryder and Rosa Mendez do indeed come to the ring.  He says since he beat The Hurricane last week, he now wants to be referred to as the new heart and soul superhero of ECW.  He has Savannah announce his as such.  Twice.  Rosa yells at her in Spanish.  The Hurricane runs out and hits a diving cross body on Ryder.  Hurricane kisses Savannah’s hand.

Christian vs. Regal TONIGHT!  Awesome!

Josh Matthews and Byron Saxton hype the Royal Rumble card.  Then, they show clips of the recent issues between Shelton Benjamin and Vance Archer.  Those two will meet this Thursday on Superstars.

Non-Title: ECW Champion Christian vs. William Regal (w/ Ezekiel Jackson).  As always, they wrestle, and it’s good.  Regal, awesome motherfucker that he is, stretches Christian’s arm.  Regal ends up on the floor and Christian hits him with a baseball slide dropkick, then brings him back in.  Christian gets distracted by Jackson looking at him.  Commercials.  They continue wrestling, and it’s still good.  Regal counters a backslide and evilly mauls Christian.  Christian fights back.  Regal drops him with an elbow smash for 2.  Christian goes for the Killswitch.  Regal counters and hits an Exploder.  Regal kicks Christian’s head into the post.  Ouch.  Regal continues to fuck Christian’s shit all up.  Christian makes his comeback and hits a tornado DDT for 2.  Regal avoids a missile dropkick and goes for the knee trembler.  Christian catches him with a jackknife hold for 2.  Christian does his springboard sunset flip.  Regal drops him with a blow for a 2 count.  Christian dropkicks Regal in the corner, then hits a diving European uppercut.  Christian goes for the Killswitch again.  Regal counters him.  Christian throws Regal out of the ring and prepares to dive on him.  Jackson runs in and attacks Christian to cause the DQ at 16:12.  A good match between these two as always.  Regal and Jackson beat down Christian as the show ends.

Sorry for the poor review this week.  I have things on my mind.

WWE open, Superstars open.  Michael Cole and Jerry Lawler are on commentary for the first match.

Primo Colon & Gail Kim vs. Chavo Guerrero Jr. & Jillian Hall.  Primo and Chavo start with basic stuff.  Chavo starts throwing punches and gets admonished by referee Charles Robinson as Jillian gets some cheap shots in.  Primo fights back, so Chavo scrambles to tag in Hall.  Gail Kim comes in and first off on Hall.  Hall crotches Gail on the top rope, then throws her down.  Jillian works Gail’s hair.  No, I didn’t mistype that.  Kim fights back.  The guys tag back in.  Primo fires away on Chavo and hits a springboard cross body for 2.  Chavo goes for the Three Amigos, but Primo counters the third.  Chavo hits a clothesline for 2, as Gail saves.  Gail chucks Jillian out of the ring.  Chavo grabs Gail.  Gail hits a half assed Codebreaker that sends Chavo into a schoolboy from Primo that gets 3 at 5:58.  Fine little match, especially the Chavo/Primo bits.

Tonight, Christian takes on William Regal!  Yes!

Carlito vs. Chris Masters (w/ Eve Torres).  Masters has new music.  Carlito spits apple in Masters’ face, so Masters kicks his ass.  Carlito bails.  Masters pursues.  Carlito sends Masters into the post, then takes him back into the ring to work him over.  Masters make a comeback and press slams Carlito.  Carlito dropkicks Masters into the turnbuckles.  Carlito charges.  Masters avoids him and locks in the Master Lock for the win at 3:14.

“Ask The Divas”.

Todd Grisham and Matt Striker take over commentary duties for the next match.

Jimmy Wang Yang & Slam Master J vs. Mike Knox & Charlie Haas.  Holy shit, Charlie Haas still has a job?  He’s sporting a beard, but it’s nowhere near as bitchin’ as Knox’s.  Haas and J start.  Knox tags in and kills him with a cross body, knocks Yang off the apron, covers for 2, then tags Haas back in.  J continues to play face in peril.  J takes a beating, then finally makes the hot tag.  Yang cleans house.  J takes out Knox with a suicide dive.  Yang hits a moonsault to a standing Haas for the pin at 3:57.  Man, Knox and Haas should have gone over.  I like that team.  Good little 4 minute formula tag match here.

Christian vs. Regal, TONIGHT!

Raw Rebound.

Josh Matthews and Byron Saxton are on commentary for the main event, which is NEXT!

Ezekiel Jackson hype.  He’ll challenge Christian for the title at the Royal Rumble.

Non-Title: ECW Champion Christian vs. William Regal (w/ Ezekiel Jackson).  They lock up and do awesome wrestling, as is the case any time they lock up.  Regal throws a couple of European uppercuts.  Christian gets a backslide for 2.  Christian dropkicks Zeke off the apron, then schoolboys Regal for 2.  Zeke gets on the apron again and the referee ejects him.  Commercials.  Back from break, they’re still going at it hard.  Christian attempts a tornado DDT, but Regal nails him with an elbow and sends him to the outside from the top turnbuckle.  Christian hit the apron very nastily.  He makes it back in, where Regal puts the boots to him.  Regal buts a beating on Christian.  Christian fights back and hits a diving cross body for 2.  They trade blows in the middle.  Regal knees Christian in the gut and throws him to the apron.  Christian nails him from the apron and hits a missile dropkick off the top for 2.  Christian hits the Sliding D, then goes for a diving headbutt, but Regal avoids it.  Christian goes for the Killswitch, but Regal turns it into a ALMOST Regal Plex, which means I ALMOST marked out hard.  Christian avoids the knee trembler and goes for the springboard sunset flip.  Regal squashes it and holds on the to the ropes.  The referee catches him.  Christian goes for the Killswitch again, but Regal counters and locks in the Regal Stretch.  Christian escapes.  Regal goes for a Tiger Driver or something, but Christian counters and hits the Killswitch for the pin at 13:07.  Really good match.  I love when these guys hook up.

I haven’t had the chance to catch Superstars in some time, but I’m glad I caught it tonight.  Really fun show, especially the last 2 matches.
