WWE Superstars 9/2/10

Superstars open, pyro and ballyhoo.  Michael Cole and Jerry Lawler are the first announcers.  Justin Roberts is the first ring announcer.  Tonight, Kofi Kingston takes on Chavo Guerrero Jr. in the main event!

Million Dollar Champion Ted Dibiase Jr. (w/ Maryse) vs. Goldust.  They lock up.  Goldust routs Dibiase early on and sends him running to the outside.  Dibiase comes back in and goes to work on Goldust.  Goldust rallies and hits a pair of shoulder blocks for 2.  Goldust works Dibiase’s arm.  Goldust clotheslines Dibiase to the floor.  Goldust follows and throws Dibiase into the barricade.  Goldust throws Dibiase back into the ring.  Maryse provides the distraction, allowing Dibiase to knock Goldust off the apron.  Dibiase sends Goldust into the post and the steps.  Insta-commercials.  Goldust fights out of a rear chin lock.  Dibiase hits a clothesline for 2.  Dibiase keeps the heat on Goldust.  Maryse slaps Goldust behind the referee’s back.  Dibiase keeps beating on Goldust.  Maryse yells at the announcers.  Dibiase gets a series of near falls on Goldust, then goes back to the rear chin lock.  Goldust fights out and makes his comeback.  Goldust hits a bulldog headlock for 2.  Goldust hits the corner punches and the snap powerslam for 2.  Goldust counters the Dream Street, but Dibiase hits a flapjack for 2.  Goldust goes for a suplex.  Dibiase counters and drops him across the top rope.  Dibiase hits the Dream Street for the pin (9:07 shown).  Good little match.

NXT recap.  Season 3 premiers Tuesday!  Ugh.

WWE bullshit fact of the night.

Santino Marella (w/ Vladimir Kozlov) vs. Jimmy Uso (w/ Jey Uso & Tamina).  They lock up.  Santino tries to go for Jimmy’s arm, but Jimmy isn’t having any of that shit.  Jimmy avoids all of Santino’s silly kicks with ease.  Santino fails at everything until he finally manages to take Jimmy down.  Jimmy gets up immediately and kicks his ass.  Jimmy hits a knee drop for 2, then clamps on a rear chin lock.  Santino escapes and goes for the Cobra.  Jimmy avoids it and works Santino’s arm.  Santino avoids a charge in the corner and makes his comeback.  Santino hits a jumping headbutt for 2.  Jey Uso gets on the apron and is taken out by Kozlov.  Jimmy hits Santino with a Samoan drop, then goes for the Superfly splash.  Santino gets his knees up to block it and gets the pin in 3:31.  Fun little silly comedy match.  Tamina gives Santino the lei she was wearing and kisses his Cobra hand.

Kofi Kingston vs. Chavo Guerrero Jr.  They both try go behinds.  Kofi takes Chavo down with a Dragon screw leg whip and goes to work on his knee.  Kofi hits a diving cross body for 2.  Kofi keeps working Chavo’s knee.  Dropkick to the knee gets 2.  Chavo fights back and puts the boots to Kofi.  Chavo tries to throw Kofi outside, but Kofi rebounds and throws Chavo to the floor.  Kofi goes for a dive, but Chavo trips him, causing him to face plant into the apron.  Insta-commercials.  Chavo is now working Kofi’s leg.  Chavo rams Kofi’s leg into the post.  Chavo hits the Eddie hilo to Kofi’s legs for 2.  Kofi fights back.  The referee pulls him away from beating on Chavo in the corner, allowing Chavo to hit a rolling kick for 2.  Chavo goes back to working the leg.  Kofi catches Chavo with an elbow smash, then drops him with a neckbreaker.  Kofi makes his comeback and hits the S.O.S., but Chavo grabs the bottom rope to save himself.  Kofi rolls through a sunset flip and boots Chavo in the face, then hits the Boom Drop.  Kofi hits the rebound corner kick, then goes for a diving cross body.  Chavo counters with knees to the mid-section for 2.  Chavo hits the Three Amigos and goes up top, but Kofi cuts him off and goes for a superplex.  Chavo fights him off.  Kofi hits him with the Trouble In Paradise to knock him off the top and gets the pin (10:21 shown).  Good match.

Pretty good show this week.  I think that’s at least 2 good weeks of Superstars in a row.
