ROH Up For Grabs (Repost)

The point of this show is an eight team tournament to crown new ROH World Tag Team Champions.

ROH World Tag Team Championship Tournament – Round 1: Chris Hero & Adam Pearce of Sweet N Sour Inc. (w/ Larry Sweeney, Bobby Dempsey, Shane Hagadorn, & Sara Del Rey) vs. Ruckus & Jigsaw of The Vulture Squad.  Dave Prazak and Lenny Leonard are on commentary as always.  Jigsaw and Hero start with fine wrestling.  Hero bails.  Jigsaw teases a dive, but Hero walks up the aisle to avoid it.  Pearce and Ruckus tag in.  That doesn’t last long, as Hero and Jigsaw come back in.  There are frequent tags on both sides.  Jigsaw gets Pearce down with a cradle and has him pinned, but the referee is arguing with Ruckus.  The Sweet N Sour team manages to isolate Jigsaw and wear him down.  Ruckus gets the tag and comes in with lots of flippy stuff.  The Vulture Squad hits a whacky Gory Special/Ghetto stomp move on Hero.  Hero blasts Ruckus in the face with his elbow smash for the win at 12:06.  Eddie Kingston comes out to check on Ruckus and gets into a slap fight with Jigsaw.  Ruckus tries to calm everyone down.  Consulting Wikipedia… the angle here is that Ruckus is a member of the Vutlure Squad in ROH, but in CZW is a member of BLK OUT with Kingston.

Sweet N Sour Inc. are in the back talking about their win.  Hero says 1 down, 2 to go.

ROH World Tag Team Championship Tournament – Round 1: Kevin Steen & El Generico vs. ROH World Champion Nigel McGuinness & Go Shiosaki.  Steen coughs in his hand before offering to shake with Nigel.  Nigel responds by playing with his junk.  Go and Generico start.  Generico hits some nice armdrags, then Shiosaki chops the shit out of him.  Steen tags in and insists that Go tag in Nigel.  Nigel comes in for a moment, then tags out and bails.  The crowd sings some kind of weird rendition of “The London Bridge is Falling Down.”  Go and Steen trade shoulder tackles for a while, then Steen sidesteps one and tosses Go out of the ring.  Steen hits the ropes, but Nigel trips him.  Generico hits a suicide dive on Nigel.  Nigel come in the ring and gets a cheap shot on Steen and starts to work him over briefly, but Steen kicks his ass.  Generico tags in and he and Steen hit a backpack senton on Nigel.  Did I just invent that name?  Nigel and Go target Generico’s arm.  Generico plays face in peril and has his arm tortured for a while, then makes the hot tag to Steen.  Steen dispatches Nigel, then Go tags in and gets the better of him.  He goes for the Go Flasher, but can’t lift Steen. so he settles for a Fisherman’s suplex and gets a near fall from it.  Go hits a sweet diving knee drop to the back of Steen’s head.  Steen takes some punishment from Nigel and Go, but Generico saves him from being pinned with a German suplex.  Steen avoids Go’s moonsault, then they trade Germans and superkicks.  Tags to Generico and Nigel.  Generico hits a diving cross body for a near fall.  Steen tags in and nails Go before he can be tagged in.  Nigel goes for the Tower of London, but Generico hits a Yakuza kick to prevent it.  Nigel takes Steen’s Swanton and Generico’s diving splash, but Go breaks the cover.  With less than a minute left in the time limit, Steen forces Nigel to submit to the Sharpshooter at 19:21.  Nigel Pillmanizes Steen’s leg with a chair after the match, then Go makes him stop the attack.  Nigel leaves to “YOU TAPPED OUT” chants.  Steen and Generico hobble out hurt.

Steen and Generico are shown in the back getting their injuries taped up.

ROH World Tag Team Championship Tournament – Round 1: Jimmy Jacobs & Tyler Black of the Age of the Fall vs. Delirious & Pelle Primeau.  Delirious starts with Jacobs, then Pelle tags in, presumably to get his ass kicked, but he shows some fire against Black.  Delirious quickly comes back in and goes at it with Black.  Pelle eventually does take his ass kicking, then does some fancy flipping and makes the hot tag to Delirious, who cleans house.  Jacobs accidentally spears Black, then gets schoolboyed by Delirious for a near fall.  Jacobs (I think) blocks the Panic Attack, so Delirious tags in Primeau, who Black promply powerbombs into the turnbuckle, then hits the God’s Last Gift for the pin at 7:58.  Daizee Haze comes out and Delirious speaks jibberish to her, then Rhett Titus comes out.  He tries to woo Haze, but she bashes him and leaves.  Titus follows her to chants of “YOU GOT COCK BLOCKED!”  Delirious leaves, dejected.

Jacobs and Black talk in the back.

ROH World Tag Team Championship Tournament – Round 1: FIP World Heavyweight Champion Roderick Strong & Davey Richards of the No Remorse Corps vs. Bryan Danielson & Austin Aries.  “YOU’RE GONNA GET YOUR FUCKIN’ HEAD KICKED IN” is the best chant ever.  Richards and Aries start.  Aries does a sweet headstand in a pinning predicament, then tags in Danielson.  Danielson tries the surfboard and fails, but it leads to some sweet double teaming on Richards.  Strong tags in briefly against Danielson, then Richards comes back in.  Danielson tags in Aries and they double team Richards some more.  Strong comes in to save and brawls with Danielson until Danielson tosses him out of the ring.  Match goes on, and it’s good stuff.  Eventually the NRC starts to build the heat on Danielson.  Aries gets the hot tag and locks Richards in the Last Chancery.  Strong saves and hits a backbreaker variation on Aries, then tags in and covers for a near fall.  Aries hits a steam roller on Strong and tags in Danielson.  Danielson locks in the Cattle Mutilation, but Richards throws Aries on top of it to break it.  Strong hits some vicious backbreakers on Danielson, then locks in a crab hold.  Danielson escapes and goes for the Cattle Mutilation again, but Richards locks him in a Texas Cloverleaf.  Aries saves and NAILS Richards with a kick to the head.  Richards rolls outside and Aries nails a tope suicida.  Strong and Danielson trade strikes.  Strong hits a stomach breaker and a big sliding kick for a near fall.  Strong locks Danielson in some sort of strange submission hold, but Danielson gets a rope break.  Strong goes for the Tiger Driver, but Danielson backdrops his way out of it.  Danielson kicks Strong’s head in and locks in a triangle choke for the win at 19:23.  Awesome match.

Danielson and Aries talk in the back.  Aries is ready to kill Jimmy Jacobs in the next round.

ROH World Tag Team Championship Tournament – Semifinal: Chris Hero & Adam Pearce of Sweet N Sour Inc. (w/ Larry Sweeney, Bobby Dempsey, Shane Hagadorn, & Sara Del Ray) vs. Kevin Steen & El Generico.  Hero immediately attacks Steen’s injured leg.  Understandably, the Sweet N Sour team continues with this strategy for some time.  After a few minutes, Steen manages to tag out to Generico.  Generico comes in and cleans house until Sweet N Sour attack his injured shoulder.  Generico makes a comeback with a diving rana, but can’t get the pin because of various distractions.  Hagadorn gets on the apron with Pearce’s briefcase.  Hero tries to throw Generico into it, but Generico reverses him headfirst into the briefcase.  Generico pins Hero with a reverse cradle at about 8:15 (didn’t hear the closing bell).

Steen tells Generico they have to fight through the pain for one more match to win the titles.

ROH World Tag Team Championship Tournament – Semifinal: Jimmy Jacobs & Tyler Black of the Age of the Fall vs. Bryan Danielson & Austin Aries.  Aries runs down to brawl with Jacobs at ringside while Danielson starts with Black in the ring.  Aries and Jacobs come in the ring.  Jacobs uses a chair while the referee is paying attention Daniels and Black.  Aries ducks a shot and grabs the chair.  The referee sees him nail Jacobs and calls for the DQ at the 56 second mark.  AOTF leaves with Aries in pursuit.  Danielson listens to chants of “BULLSHIT” and “YOU GOT SCREWED” before leaving as well.  It makes sense for the match to go this way since the two teams were already scheduled to meet the following night.

Jacobs and Black talk backstage again.  Jacobs says he’s in Aries’ head.  They think they’ll have any easy time against Steen and Generico in the final.

Alex “Sugarfoot” Payne vs. Shane Hagadorn (w/ Larry Sweeney, Eddie Edwards, & Sara Del Ray).  Nice basic wrestling early on.  Payne shines, then Hagadorn hammers him down.  Payne fights back and gets a near fall with a sunset flip, then Hagadorn drops him with a sweet backdrop suplex for a near fall.  Payne fires up again, then Del Ray pulls him out of the ring and kicks the crap out of him.  Del Ray throws Payne back in the ring, then Hagadorn hits an STO for the win at 5:46.  Nice post-intermission match.

Sweeney gets in the ring and babbles a bit, then calls out Claudio Castagnoli for his match against Eddie Edwards.

Eddie Edwards (w/ Larry Sweeney, Shane Hagadorn, & Sara Del Ray) vs. Claudio Castagnoli.  Edwards jumps Castagnoli from behind to start the match.  Claudio fights back and Edwards bails.  Claudio follows him out of the ring and kicks his ass.  Edwards managed to get the advantage back in the ring.  Sweeney takes a cheap shot when the referee isn’t looking, then does it again when Claudio is sent to the outside.  Edwards jumps on Claudio and continues to bring the pain.  Claudio makes a comeback and fires away with European uppercuts and a dropkick, the a spinning drop thingy for a near fall.  Edwards avoids the Ricola Bomb and hits the Backpack Stunner for a near fall.  Edwards hits a big missile dropkick and tries to set up a backdrop, but Claudio escapes and hits a sweet springboard European uppercut for a near fall.  Edwards counters another Ricola Bomb attempt and hits a Lionsault for a near fall.  Claudio hits an airplane spin for a near fall.  Claudio lands a European uppercut.  Edwards responds with a superkick, then another cool unidentifiable move for a near fall.  Claudio throws Edwards in the air and nails him with a European uppercut for the pin at 9:50.

Three-Way Relaxed Rules Match:
Erick Stevens vs. Brent Albright vs. Necro Butcher.  This is just a wild brawl.  Necro uses the ring bell, then a piece of the barricade.  They brawl into the crowd.  Necro tries to bury Albright and Stevens under a mountain of chairs.  They fight their way back to ringside and Necro bodyslams Stevens and a chair.  That was neat.  Albright nails Necro and takes Stevens back in the ring, then hits a diving elbow for a near fall.  Necro hits a backdrop suplex on Albright, then tries a Frankensteiner off the top on Stevens, but fails.  Albright gets a cool arm lock on Stevens, but Necro breaks it.  Necro goes for a Tiger Driver on Stevens, but gets backdropped out of it.  Stevens dives off the ropes at Necro, but Necro catches him with a punch to the face.  Albright sends Necro out.  Stevens goes for the Doctor Bomb, but Albright hits an Air Raid Crash.  Albright nails some knee strikes, but Necro comes back in and hits some knee strikes.  Stevens hits the Doctor Bomb on Necro for the win at 11:36.  Fun crazy brawl.

Sweet N Sour Inc. runs out to attack Albright after the match.  He fights off Edwards and Hagadorn, but Hero gets the better of him for a moment.  Albright fights back and powerbombs Hero, then gets hold of Sweeney.  Pearce runs in and nails him with the briefcase, then beats the shit out of him with it.  Edwards and Hagadorn hold Albright down while Pearce whips him with a belt, but Albright escapes and chases them all off.  That’s bad ass.

ROH World Tag Team Championship Tournament – Final:
Jimmy Jacobs & Tyler Black of Age of the Fall vs. Kevin Steen & El Generico.  In-ring introductions for this one, because, ya know, it’s the final.  They argue and shove each other before the match starts, then just go at it, brawling.  They fight at ringside, where Steen powerbombs Black against the side of the ring.  Steen hits a sweet pumphandle neckbreaker on Jacobs back in the ring and gets a near fall.  Tag to Generico, who hits a diving splash, but Black makes the save.  AOTF works over Generico’s injured shoulder.  Generico is helped out of the arena 6 minutes in, leaving Steen to go it alone.  At 9 minutes, Black locks Steen in a figure-four leglock.  Steen fights it and manages to get a rope break.  Jacobs tags in and locks Steen in a Sharpshooter, which is one of Steen’s favorite holds.  Steen counters it as Jacobs makes a tag to Black.  Black goes for another figure-four, but Steen kicks him away into Black.  Powerbomb to Black, then a powerbomb to Jacobs onto Black.  Steen goes for the Swanton on Black, but catches Black’s knees on the way down.  Steen keeps fighting, but Jacobs clips the bad leg and AOTF gets the advantage again.  Steen gets a near fall on Black with an inside cradle.  He goes for the Package Piledriver, but his knee gives out.  Black hits the God’s Last Gift, but Steen manages to kick out.  Jacobs and Black go for the powerbomb/Contra Code out of the corner, but Generico runs back down to make the save.  Generico lands a Yakuza kick and an Asai Moonsault, then gets the tag.  Package Piledriver to Jacobs, then Generico tries to follow with the brainbuster, but Black schoolboys Generico for the pin at 16:51.  AOTF regain the titles.

Jacobs cuts his usual promo as the fans throw trash in the ring.  Jacobs says Age of the Fall is unstoppable, then repeats “unstoppable” about 437 times.  They leave, then Steen and Generico hobble to the back to applause.  Fin.
