WWE Superstars 9/23/10

Superstars open, pyro and ballyhoo.  Todd Grisham and Matt Striker are the first announcers.  Tony Chimel is the first ring announcer.  Tonight, they’ll show footage of the gauntlet match from Raw!  Joy.

JTG vs. Primo (w/ AJ).  They lock up and do some nice chain wrestling.  Stalemate that would have gotten applause in Japan.  They slap hands and lock up again.  JTG grabs a side headlock.  JTG lands a dropkick and a hip toss.  JTG hits a standing blockbuster for 2.  JTG lands corner punches.  Primo rallies and throws him out of the ring.  JTG avoids a baseball slide dropkick and swings at Primo.  Primo ducks and JTG stops himself from hitting AJ.  Primo jumps JTG from behind and sends him into the steps.  Insta-commercials.  Primo rolls through a sunset flip and kicks him in the face for 2.  Primo lands a dropkick for 2.  Primo hits a suplex for 2.  Primo applies an arm lock with a body scissors.  JTG escapes and fights back.  Primo sweeps his leg, then misses a headbutt.  JTG makes his comeback and hits a back body drop for 2.  JTG hits another standing blockbuster, then the Mugshot.  JTG fucks around and dances like an idiot, then Primo hits the Backstabber for the pin (6:19 shown).  Good little match.

NXT recap.  That show was so bad I almost cried.

Raw Gauntlet Match NEXT!

WWE bullshit fact of the night.

Michael Cole and Jerry Lawler are now the announcers.

They show the John Cena vs. Nexus Gauntlet Match from Raw, including pre- and post-match promos.  Go read my Raw review.  That’s 17 minutes of TV time gone.

Hell In A Cell hype.

Justin Roberts is now the ring announcer.

Goldust (w/ Aksana) vs. William Regal.  Yay!  They work each others’ arm in a very hateful way, and it’s glorious.  Great wrestling is had by all.  Goldust drops Regal with a shoulder block for 2.  They lock up and Goldust backs Regal into the corner.  Regal clamps on a cravat headlock and takes Goldust to the mat with it.  Fuck, Regal is awesome.  Goldust hits Regal with a butt butt.  Regal bails and creepily stalks Aksana.  Goldust jumps him from behind and climbs the steps.  Regal sends Goldust’s leg into the steps.  Insta-commercials.  Regal works Goldust’s leg like the awesome motherfucker he is.  Goldust gets a hope spot in, but Regal clips his knee and goes back to work on it.  Regal drops Goldust with an elbow smash.  Goldust lands 2 palm trusts and the brainbuster for the pin (6:16 shown).  Anti-climactic finish takes this match down to only being really good.

This is what I like to see on an episode of Superstars: A couple of good TV matches with the crap being stuff I can fast forward through.  Thumbs up!
