WWE Superstars 8/26/10

Superstars open.  No pyro nor ballyhoo.  Michael Cole and Jerry Lawler are the first announcers.  Justin Roberts is the first ring announcer.

Goldust vs. William Regal.  They lock up and go at it and it fucking rules.  They counter each other, then trade arm locks.  Regal gets a rope break.  Repeat in reverse.  Goldust decks Regal, which pisses Regal off and sets him to mauling a fucker.  Regal works the arm in fucking awesome Regal fashion.  Goldust misses a cross body and hits the floor.  Insta-commercials.  Goldust suplexes Regal into the ring from the apron.  Goldust hits the corner punches.  Regal begs off and offers a handshake.  Goldust stomps on his hand.  Regal nails an elbow smash, then sells the injured hand.  Regal does that awesome bit where he mauls a fucker while trying to pin him, then applies a chin lock.  Regal kicks Goldust in the face for 2, then ties him up like a pretzel.  They have an awesome little slugfest that Goldust gets the better of and starts to make his comeback.  Goldust hits a bulldog for 2.  Regal pulls Goldust’s neck into the top rope, then blasts him with the knee trembler for the pin (6:31 shown).  Fucking AWESOME little match.

NXT recap.

Tonight, Drew McIntyre takes on Chris Masters!

Still photos from the house show in China.

Todd Grisham and Matt Striker are now the announcers.  Tony Chimel is now the ring announcer.

Curt Hawkins & Vance Archer vs. The Dudebusters.  Archer and Barreta lock up.  Archer overpowers him and hands him over to Hawkins.  Barreta fights back and tags in Croft.  Croft gets 2 after some light double teaming.  Archer tags in and beats up Croft.  Croft fights back, decks Hawkins, then gets clotheslined out of the ring.  Hawkins rams Croft’s back into the side of the ring.  Back inside, Hawkins covers Croft for 2.  Hawkins and Archer get the heat on Croft.  Barreta gets the hot tag and runs wild.  Crowd is actually behind the Dudebusters.  Barreta hits a springboard dropkick on Archer, but Hawkins saves.  Croft backdrops Hawkins to the floor, then gets booted off of the apron by Archer.  Barreta hits a nice tornado DDT on Archer for the pin in 5:00.  Fine little match.

McIntyre vs. Masters TONIGHT!

WWE bullshit fact of the night.

Undertaker hype video.

Raw Rebound.

The main event is NEXT!

Drew McIntyre vs. Chris Masters.  They lock up.  Masters powers McIntyre into the corner and gives a clean break.  They lock up again and McIntyre cranks on Masters’ arm.  McIntyre grabs a guillotine.  Masters counters with an arm flip and goes for the Master Lock, but McIntyre escapes and cowers in the corner.  McIntyre gets the jump on Masters and beats him up.  Masters retaliates.  Masters hits a diving shoulder block, then clotheslines McIntyre out of the ring.  Masters beats up McIntyre on the floor.  McIntyre slips out of a powerslam and sends Masters into the post.  McIntyre rams Masters’ leg into the post.  Masters makes it back into the ring and McIntyre goes to work on the leg.  Cover for 2.  Masters fires back, but McIntyre cuts him off at the leg again.  Cover gets 2.  McIntyre goes back to the leg work.  Insta-commercials.  McIntyre chokes Masters against the ropes, so he’ll be fired soon.  Or he would if anybody besides me watched Superstars.  McIntyre lands a dropkick to the leg for 2.  McIntyre lands a European uppercut and Masters falls like a sack of potatoes.  Or like James Toney being taken down by Randy Couture.  McIntyre works a spinning toe hold.  Classic.  Masters kicks McIntyre out of the ring.  McIntyre comes back in and runs into a Samoan drop by Masters.  Masters makes his comeback and hits a spinebuster for 2, stopping for a moment to sell his leg.  Masters gets whipped and hurts his leg again.  McIntyre hits a neckbreaker for 2.  McIntyre rips Masters’ knee pad down and attacks the knee some more.  Masters gets an inside cradle for 2.  Masters hits a powerslam, then goes for the Master Lock.  McIntyre tumbles out of the ring to escape, but Masters holds on and locks it in.  McIntyre backs him into the barricade to escape.  Back inside, McIntyre kicks Masters’ knee and hits the Future Shock for the pin (10:50 shown).  Very good match.
